Custom-Made Sashes
Low-Disruption Installation
Methods For Double Glazing Sash Upgrades
We install double glazing to sash windows either by adapting existing sashes or manufacturing new ones designed specifically for double glazing. Existing window cases can usually be retained and refurbished, reducing disruption. New sashes are pre-fitted with double glazing for a custom fit, balancing historical detail with energy efficiency. Draught-proofing is installed as standard, and panels or shutters remain intact during installation.

Custom Integrated Glass Units For Historic Windows
We supply Integrated Glass Units (IGUs) from our Edinburgh based supplier to precise specifications. Units range from 14 mm to 18 mm in thickness and are tailored to frame depth, astragal size, and conservation or listed building requirements. Typical configurations, such as 4/8/4, combine low-e glass with argon-filled gaps. Fine adjustments ensure the units maintain the original window appearance while improving insulation. Vacuum glazing is also available for enhanced performance and durability.
Retrofitting Double Glazing Into Existing Sashes
In some cases, existing sash windows can be upgraded to incorporate double glazing, improving thermal performance while retaining the original frames. Every window must first be carefully assessed to determine whether this approach is suitable. In some instances, new sash method would be better thanupgrading existing sashes.
All sizes can be accurately measured and templated in advance, ensuring a precise fit and a seamless installation with minimal disruption to your home.
